Please note these instructions are detailed only to help you avoid making mistakes. Making a Character Reference Bible is quite easy to do. As you make the Bible you will find yourself growing spiritually. That's what God's Word does! And that's why you make the Bible; to train yourself and your children for God's service.
These labels are temporarily repositionable. The sooner you re-position, the easier it is to do so. After about a week, they are difficult to remove. With care they can be re-positioned up to a month later.
Three corner spaces are available for your own categories.
If a tab or question gets torn or spoiled in any way, please send a message using the CONTACT page and a replacement will be sent at no charge.
Before beginning, it is very helpful to go through the study guide and highlight the category titles in the color to be used to highlight the scriptures. This will prevent you from inadvertently continuing with an incorrect color. Color names correspond to Crayola Colored Pencils, 50 count box.

Attach Full Page Guides
Attach "How to Use God's Word" to the left front inside cover of the Bible with double sided tape, or crafter's glue tape.
Attach Character-Category Guide to the right front inside cover of the Character Reference Bible using double sided tape or crafter's glue-tape.
Attach Side Tabs
Attach Tabs ONLY on the RIGHT side of the page.
Cut vertically up the columns as begun on the first page of tabs. Leave the sheet attached together at the bottom of the page. You should have nine "wiggly" columns attached together.
Turn the page upside down so that tab #1 is in the bottom, right and corner.
Peel up the left side of tab #1 (1 Right = Deceit/Lying 101:7; 1 Left = Honest/Deceit 24:4-5) and bend it over tab #4 Left to expose the cutting line between the two tabs (where the label would have easily lifted off the backing if there were no laminate on the top.)
Cut apart along the original label line with scissors. Turning the tab over and bending it at the change line makes it easier to see a straight line to cut the tabs apart.
Trim off the extra laminate and slightly trim the side edges of the tab. This prevents the tabs from catching each other.
Fold the "Honest/Deceit 24:4-5" tab over the sharp edge of your paring knife at the white line in the color block; this will help you make a "sharp" fold in the tab. Set aside.
Place the laminated SIDE Guide behind the page that will have the tab on it. (Behind page # 795 in the Bible that came with your kit.) Use two paper clips to line the guide up even with the TOP of the Bible page.
Place tab on the outside edge of the Bible page using the guide lines to make the tab stick up only ¼”. Much further than that will make the tabs tear the page as you turn to the scripture.
Use the column lines to line up the side edges of the tab. This makes the tab straight.
Double check that the folded over tab only “caught” one page.
Highlight passages as directed in the study guide by underlining. If instructions say “MULTIPLE HIGHLIGHTS” the verse will be used for more than one category and color, so you will need to allow two and occasionally more methods of “seeing” the verse, (underlining the words, drawing a colored bracket next to the verse, coloring the verse number a different color, etc.)
Attach the Questions Labels
Trim the question sticker to remove chapter, verse and excess margins.
Place the question sticker IN the column OVER the references if your bible has references or on the journaling lines.
NOTE: Do NOT attach questions for verses that have the word “WAIT” in the margin. These are located at the end of the question labels. You will want to work on the verses in those chapters together to avoid crowding.
Using the Study Guide
Work each scripture under each category, answering the self-examination questions for yourself in the study guide.
Also answer the questions that will help you understand the verse:
What should I do or be?
What should I not do or be?
Why should I do or not do this?
How can I do this?
Every passage does not necessarily answer every question. Occasionally you will find a “How “ or “Why” answer in the verses preceding or after the highlighted verse. If you make notes in the margin to help you apply the verse, remember that another category’s tab may extend into the margin near the verse you are studying. Please wait to write notes wherever you must wait to place the self-examination question as some of the margins may be needed as well.
Continue to work each category as you come to it on the guide. When finished with the side categories begin the bottom categories.
Attach Bottom Tabs
Place the laminated Bottom Guide behind page # 77 (N.T., Mark 12). Line it up with the OUTSIDE LENGTH EDGE of the Bible page, using the paper clips to secure temporarily.
Remove the left side of tab # 62, (Respect, 12:17) fold over paring knife and set aside.
Attach tab. You will notice that the word “Respect” extends below the Bible page and the chapter and verse are on the page.
Answer the questions in the study guide as you continue to attach tabs and questions for the categories of Respect- Work
Attaching Top Tabs
Place the Top Guide behind page # 903 in the Bible that came with your kit. (O.T., Psalms 145.)
Line the Top Guide up with the OUTSIDE LENGTH EDGE of the Bible page, using the paper clips to secure temporarily.
Cut apart tab # 107. (Contentment, 145:15-16). Fold over paring knife. Attach using guide lines.
Answer the questions in the study guide as you continue to attach tabs and questions for the categories Contentment- Love.
